Will it Flail? - SD Gundam Gaiden: Lacroan Heroes

This week's Will it Flail? is yet another Game Boy game I picked up at Electronics Boutique in years past... or was it on eBay? Eh, can't catalog where I get stuff and really shouldn't try. The game is 1990's SD Gundam Gaiden: Lacroan Heroes.

I figure most people know what all that means, but just in case...

Gundam is a giant-robot anime that began in 1979 and revolutionized that genre, being the first show to treat its giant robots like mass-produced weapons(mostly) instead of invincible super-robots. "SD" stands for Super Deformed, cute little cartoony mass-produced weapons who are only 2-3 heads tall. This subline of merchandise became so popular that Bandai started making side-story (Which is what "Gaiden" means) video games based in various worlds unrelated to the core Gundam franchise, of which this is one.I think that covers it...

Dragon Quest VII/6 - Day 12 (heat stroke makes for poor cognatious thunk.)

And once again, we find ourselves here on a Friday!

I guess I'll start out by saying that I have no gods damn clue where to go, and I'll feel no shame in not wanting to spend the entire session finding out where we're supposed to be right now. That given the case, we're going for an extremely long shot here, and we're going to head back to the town where we got George, since I think this might have been a mission, or something.

Well balls, I'm not sure how to get home from here, to be honest. I know that there's some item I have that warps me places... I don't know what item it is, now that I stop to think about it. Does someone have a teleport spell?

Dragon Quest VI/6 Day - 11 (in Soviet DQ, mirror breaks YOU!)

And we're back for our Thursday session of DQ6! I'm excited, can you tell? *puts weasel on head*

I'm not so sure where we left off, to be honest, because after writing the last review I was up for twenty-four hours, then slept for eleven, and that tends to make my short term memory go floop. Floop being a technical term, as I'm sure you're all well aware.

Back to town we go, and I'll just hazard a guess that I need to speak with Sabin in the basement of the church to go back to the future. I suppose I could make a Michael J. Fox joke here, but that would be tasteless, so I'll just Parkinson's my ass in the bed instead.

New Soundwave 089: Mega Man Legends 3, Ultimate MvC3, Street Fighter III...

...if it's Capcom-related and has the number 3, it's on tonight's show. It's just three of us tonight: ExVee and me, and TF Radio Network producer Brian Kilby, but I think we manage a really nice show in John and Peter's absence. Plus I got to talk up the wonders of Final Fantasy VI to non-FF players, and my video's finally working thanks to the magic of CAT5 cable!

Older episodes of New Soundwave- including last week's episode, which I forgot to post -are here. Back to Dragon Quest VI tomorrow!

Dragon Quest VI/6 - Day 10 (a little more norse than souse.)

And we're back! I've just made it to the next town, and I already find that this place is pretty odd. First of all, the local priest seems to enjoy outdoor life, rather than being stuck behind the pulpit all day.

Maybe it's some kind of cabbage farming-based religion?
I guess I can't blame him, because I've been in a few small churches and they tend to get a bit stuffy. I guess I'll start by having a look around town and talking to people, to see if any of them gives me some sort of little quest hook. not that I'll really be able to tell, but once I find the trigger I'll probably figure it out.

Dragon Quest VI/6 - Day 9 (I'm on a boat.)

And we return to fuck up a bitch's day! I'm not sure who I talk to about it, but we'll have to see. I'm really hoping that they put the dog poisoner to death, because I hate high school drama more than I hate adults acting like they're in high school... okay, that's not true. I actually hate adults that still act like they did in their dramatic little teens more than anything.

Off I go to the fat old guy who owns the dog, because maybe I can get him to shank a bitch... Nope, he does not seem to give a damn about a thing I have to say. Well, maybe the son will go and beat the crap out of a bitch, since he runs out of the room in a blaze of what is hopefully vengeful rage!... Nope, and as a matter of fact, the girl is missing from the prison cell, so she was either exiled, or executed for dog poisoning... I'm getting pretty angry here, so it's time to calm myself down in the only way this town can offer.

Look up the casino music on YouTube- make sure it's the original 16-bit version. SO SOOTHING.
That's right, it's time to gamble till our eyes cross and we start speaking in tongues! It could happen, I'm sure, with enough gambling... and peyote. The latter helping more than the former, probably. I'm not really addicted to gambling, but I do enjoy gambling in video games quite a bit, so...

Please don't take me to the pickle farm.
Yeah, you want to guess how many hours that took? I'm a cucumber, that's how many hours it took.

Dragon Quest VI/6 - Day 8 (Like a Rolling Creepy Thing.)

So we're back, and it's Monday, Monday, Monday, a very, very fun day... no one will get that reference.

I can't remember much over my weekend break from the game, aside from us having to find a way to get some girl out of prison, I think. If that's the case, then the poor girl is pretty much out of luck, since I'm a ghost.

I'm really hoping that the next plot trigger is inside this little village somewhere, because I don't know where to look around here. I'll start by searching every house and building, and maybe talking to people with non standard sprites.

Meet Milly! Previously mistranslated as 'Milayou,' which is Enix USA not realizing that 'Mire-yu' is the Japanese spelling for the French name 'Mireille.'
That's a non standard sprite if I've seen one, and I have... Wait, I think I recognize that guy/girl. Isn't that the guy/girl from the start of the game? They look like some sort of elven wizard, but I could be wrong, because I only rolled a 10 on my spot check, and with my wisdom mod, I only have a +3. Damn you cross class skills!... Wait, wrong game.

Holy crap, they can see me! It's like waiting at a restaurant table for an hour and a half, trying to get the attention of a waiter! They've finally seen me! I can't believe it!... They fucking left! Why?! Did I smell or something? I'm going to blame purple mohawk guy for this one, since he just looks like the sort of guy that doesn't bathe that much.

RPG Maker Showcase: lorca!

Here we go with RPG Maker Showcase!

Our first game is called "Lorca." I'm capitalizing that where the creator did not because a lot of fonts make the distinction between upper-case I and lower-case l tricky; I had to look at the Katakana (Roruka) to realize the game wasn't Iorca.
