Final Fantasy VI Day 13: In which everything goes Purplinkle

Alright, where was I? I'll be honest with you, I've screwed off quite a bit, played Eternal Sonata, Dragon Quest IX, Pokemon White (of course), and Okami, so my gaming scheduling has been a bit full, and I've been putting off the level grinding. But I'm back now, and I'm trying to learn Fire and Ice magic from Shiva and Ifrit's corpses. I find that the flans in the death pit are assholes, and all but REQUIRE magic to slay, so I bounce out of there looking for tastier fare... and the way out. Up some stairs, I find these:

Apparently they're here to inject me with something in order to find out where I put the plans to the Death Star that I'm sending to the Rebel Army.

Romancing Saga 2: KyaaKyaa Girl Gets CHATTY.

Can't get aboard the landship thing to save my damn LIFE. So I guess I'll head back to that village when all else has failed.

...except it's gone. I think I may have damned another village to extinction with my incompetence. But I do find another exit off this field.

Into a town full of gargoyles.

...wait, this is Miles. Miles was NOT full of Gargoyles last time. Aw, man. But they don't attack, they just say "Gau gau" when they bump into me. I have a feeling that's Gargoylish for "Thanks for the town, bro." But nothing else of note happens here.

Oh, there's the little village. It moves, apparently. The guy who asked for my help is very curt this time, so that further confirms my fail. More wandering, but nothing significant. So what do I do next?

For now I go back to Avalon to check on some vital statistics: 11K a fight and over 8,000,000 in the treasury, very nice!

HOLY SHIT. KyaaKyaa Girl said something after Kyaa Kyaa! Whatever it was, WaiWai Boy says it too. This MUST be significant!

And I've found something! The mine next to Tifarr has spawned a new door(surrounded by half a million Crowns' worth of ore for me to pick up), and there are monsters here! So Monday we'll tackle that since it's the first new area I've seen in a while now.

Romacing Saga 2: A Wish For Wings That Work

Ooh, there's emergency music playing in Chontou! But no enemies yet, so I'm sure Wagnas will be hanging out in the throne room. Can't be a supervillain without a massive ego!

...but actually, no. Place is still totally empty, but there's clearly something important going on since there's a second castle on the map floating over this place. I try the flying thingy one of the previous generations got from the Sormon inventor, but I can't do anything with it.

On a whim I decide to check out Mount Chikapa again. Maybe that horn will summon some birds or something I can ride over there. But no. So I wander the towns and try to figure it out, but nothing seems to change it. I guess there's something I need but don't yet have, so I guess it's time to go wandering and try to find it. Or find something. This smacks of another Cumberland Debacle- I'm starting to wonder if DORAGONs are bad luck for the party...

Romancing Saga 2: Waging War with Wagnas

Aaaaaand back to Hakuro castle. We make better inroads into the castle this time, explore a few dead-ends and such before Jubei loses his first LP. Promising! I'm especially glad I grabbed Deidameia's good sword back before she bit it. We manage to work our way around the ramparts, finding 120,000 Crowns in the bottom floor of one of the towers.

And finally I wind around to that boss cluster I was talking about. So let's do it!

Romancing Saga 2: Confusion, Death, and Employment Opportunities

We don't get victory music, but all the monsters are gone. Good enough for me! I head down to RyanJyan to see if the shogun made it back, or if the old guy is there, or what.

No, but this guy is! Meet Jubei, whose dialogue pattern indicates that he is recruitable. This suits me fine since I Deidameia's on her last legs, and I'm gonna need another swordsbeing shortly. But I wish I'd managed to annex the place, honestly.

Romancing Saga 2: Duel with the Elderly

We do considerably better on the first floor, except for the single battle where Deidameia loses FOUR! Life Points. 200-some years later, Cobra Commander is still a dick.

The treasure chest on Floor 2 is even more heavily guarded than the first. But treasure is treasure and XP is XP, so what are you gonna do? Plus our prize is a new greatsword for Deidameia that's 8 points stronger than her Katana, so it's ultimately worth it.

Final Fantasy VI - Day 12 (In Which There Are Tiny Little Bitty Houses)

Well kiddies, when we last left our heroes, they had gotten off Setzer's ship in a different area, I don't know where. I headed back on the ship to try to change party members, or screw off and go level for a bit, but I find that it's not that easy. There was an item shop, which was a nice touch, and a guy that asked me a yes or no question, though I didn't know what the question was. So I continue wandering around, trying to take control of the ship, or find party members, and instead, find this:

To a micromanager like myself, this dude is my best friend: Unequip everybody/Unequip current party/do nothing.
I have NO idea hat ANY of that says, and I can't back out of the dialogue. I am, in fact, a little frightened. Time to pick something and see what happens! Well there were some weird noises and then... I'm COMPLETELY unequipped. FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
