New Soundwave 091: 3DS Price Drop, Arkham City, and More!

I'm not on this week due to a family medical emergency, but New Soundwave of course marches on! This week we've got the 3DS' abrupt price drop, Starcraft 2, and an 8 year-old who made the EVO fighting tourney's top 50. Good going, kid!

Dragon Quest VI/6 - Day 22 (Cupcakes made of grass are just about as "green" as you can get.)

And we're back for the end of the week update, or at least the end of my week... possibly. We may end up with a bit of an informational update from me over the weekend, since it's been a bit chaotic.

Now, I remembered something that should have seemed bloody damn obvious to me, right as I was sitting and contemplating my navel about where to head.

Dragon Quest VI/6 - Day 21 (Goodbye, Waldo.)

And we're back, with corpse in tow. If I remember, we were going to attempt to find a cave, weren't we? Or at least I was suspecting a cave, because let's face it, everything evil happens in castles, or caves. So off we go!

It could've been a tower! Dragon Quests loves towers.
I knew it. See, there's really nothing wrong with some old game stereotypes, because this is the sort of thing that happens in good fantasy stories. Bilbo didn't go to the south Bronx to rob Smaug, and I sure as hell wouldn't blame him for it.

Dragon Quest VI/6 - Day 20 (Something old, something new, something borrowed, and something dead.)

And we're back, and quickly since after I posted the last update I realized that there was nowhere at all to save in this new town. Isn't that a laugh?
'Welcome to Our Lady of Perpetual Misdirection, the world's most annoyingly hidden church!'Then I headed up a flight of stairs, and found it instantly after writing that sentence... god damn it. This game loves making me look like a Derp, but the joke is on it, because I don't need it's help. Also, I just misspelled derp, twice... shit.

Dragon Quest VI/6 - Day 19 (R.A.G.G.M.O.P.P.)

And we're back for Tuesday to do... something! Something involving squid, or maybe the NRA... Or both!

If you hadn't guessed, I haven't gotten much sleep, and what I did get wasn't that great. This should hopefully turn out entertaining for you, so let's get going. If I recall correctly, we had just discovered that George was secretly Casper's mother, and that he had been living a secret double life, since she had grown the penis. Gogo on the other hand revealed that he had always wanted to be a hot air balloon, and so we lit a fire under his MC Hammer pants and wished him a fond farewell as he floated off into the sunset.

No, wait, that would actually mean we know what's going on, which we don't.

Dragon Quest VI/6 - Day 18 (what the hell am I looking at?

And we return for yet another week where I had absolutely no free time to get anything together in advance, and it's getting ready to thunderstorm. That being the case, I'm going to try to make this post a little short, but as entertaining as I can manage. Here's hoping, eh?

Is there a Bunny Girl class in this one? That's Jester/Goof-off... I forget.
Time to try some new jobs. I don't know about you, but I think I'll keep my distance from Bunny Girl, if it happens to be one. Now... how in the blue blazes does this work, anyway?

And the numbers are: Level, Attack, Defense, Style.
I am totally sure that these numbers mean something, but I'll be god damned if I know what. I guess it's Strength, Magic and Defense? Sure, let's go with that. I click yes and I find myself on a screen that makes almost no sense, which is pretty good, since most of the time it all just makes no sense across the board.

And the classes are: Soldier, Martial Artist, Magic User, Priest, Dancer, Thief, Monster Tamer, Merchant, Goof-Off(Aha!)
Either those are job classes, or pizza toppings. I'm guessing that it's pizza, because no two numbers can seem to agree, and nothing is either better than you wanted, or at least even. I guess I'm going to have to pick a class and hope? Sure, might as well.

I've switched around stats a bit, putting people in classes that don't seem to lower the stats that I think are related to magic and strength. I think I did ok, and I tried to make everyone a different class, so this should... probably backfire badly, let's be honest.

RPG Maker Showcase: HiWIND

It's that time again: with apologies- the reason for which will become evident at the end -it's once again time for RPG Maker Showcase!

This weekend we're going with an interesting looking game called HiWind. (Well, technically HiWIND.)

What drew me to HiWIND is the row of question marks on the item screen- it reminded me of Mystery Dungeon games and their item-IDing system. The translated page seems to back this up, with the hint of a possible item crafting/combining system as well! That's always fun. So off we go!
