Romancing Saga 2 Day 11: Once More Unto the Breach.

Back in Avalon, nothing seems all that different.

Gerarl still sleeps in his room despite ostensibly being in charge, so I'm back to the Steward idea. Eh, who the hell knows. But what I do know is that, if there's no clues in Avalon, I'll give Somon another shot and probably get Gerarl killed too. May as well go for that all-important dead semi-royal family trifecta!

The monsters have gotten tougher, I think: there are now pantsless Watchmen bunnies patrolling Sormon. I guess they're Doctor Manhattan bunnies.

Also, this trio of horses was presented on the map as a single dog. I thought you should know.

And the guards outside the mayor's manor are now magic-users and centipedes. They've got a pretty good skill level in Foom, since they can do 100 damage a hit with Fireball. Like most magic users they are fragile, though. One of them drops a Tanbura Rod, and then we head back into the manor. Maybe we can beat a Mimic this time!

...and it turns out we can! Not without a prolonged fight, though. The Mimic has learned a new trick, and through it I learn that there's three levels of the Confusion status in this game: White(May not act) Green(Attacks may hit allies) and Red(Lose control of character, who may heal enemies or hit allies) Bear loses 1LP (Current LP: 6) but I think it's worth it for the bragging rights and the weapon proficiency levels most of us picked up. But even so we're going back to the castle for a good nap. One of the monsters on the way out of town drops a "Miton," which turns out to be a glove. Not a great one, but a glove. I guess they meant "Mitten?" or maybe Miton is the word from which the English "mitten" is derived? If so I'm betting it's French.

So back to the manor we go. Turns out the Mimics respawn, so I'm not gonna make a habit of fighting the things.

On the second floor I fight the Legendary Starfy's surly older brother. The one who, if he is legendary for anything, it's probably being thrown out of really seedy bars. Then there's this group:

Between Light Ball and Therese's group attack, it's not too bad, though the rest of the party ends up blind, paralyzed and occasionally confused. Flavio and Marita back there in the back are the last ones to drop. Light Ball's starting to get a little underpowered but see, that means I just need to use it more, because that'll raise Gerarl's Shininess and it'll be up to speed again. Saga games are weird.

And now once again we're face to face with the enemy who killed Gerarl's entire family. Tomorrow, one of them is going to die. Possibly repeatedly.
