Romancing Saga 2 part 24: Avalon 250 Years Later.

Town hasn't changed much either- the same unoccupied grave even sits open in the graveyard! Maybe nobody here actually dies and just changes color every so often.

It'd make more sense than the game of KyaaKyaa-WaiWai being the favorite sport of Avalonian children.
We buy Greatshields for everyone- maybe there's some kind of disadvantage for a mage like Amethyst to use one, but with 45% Block and 10 Defense it'll have to be a damn good one. She's got a permanent Robe, but still has three equipment slots besides so not being able to replace her body armor isn't as big a drawback as it could be.

So now we're stocked up, and it's time to survey the rest of the empire and see what's what. Here in Somon, there's somebody working on a contraption of some kind that gives me a choice when I look at it. I take the first one.

It's a flying machine! It bounces off the ceiling, and then lands. As an apology for smacking the king's head into the ceiling, dude gives us the machine! Seems fair, and I'm sure it'll be a plot point later.

There's a boat here now too, and the guy at the docks asks me a question where two of the viable options are "Douglas" or "Miles." I'm wondering if Lando is a person or a system in this case, so to speak.

Fort Pile o' Kanji is now a town named Mirama in nice, readable katakana. We'll visit that next.

The music is so peaceful here. There's just the one house, with a treasure chest inside that contains an odd glove with DEF of 1.

Ah, okay! It's a boathouse, and the guy below ferries you over to this side where the actual town is built. Not much on this side either: a bar and a house.

But it's apparently the gateway to someplace called Morbelm. Well- "Mo-berumu." Parse that however you like. But before I visit that I want to check up on the rest of the old places and see what's new. To Nibel!

Nothing new there, but Grampa Carl's old digs are full of identical blonde men once again. He'd be so happy. So, so, disturbingly happy. I mean, men is one thing, okay. That's fine, but wanting that many identical people around? That's just weird. But since it is all men, I have to assume that one of the family's secret martial arts techniques involves reproduction via cellular division.

Is this Fritz's father? Brother? Who knows, but I presume he takes the role of ZA DORAGON while Fritz has to settle for ruling Avalon. Lucky bastard.

To the south is an area called Luton. I'll probably go to Morbelm first and then see what's shaking down Luton way. Check back for that tomorrow!

  1. "I'm wondering if Lando is a person or a system in this case, so to speak." -- Ha!! Fantastic reference to sneak in there.

And, wow, remarkably little change across two and a half centuries... remarkably tame compared to other time-travel alterations in titles like, say, Chrono Trigger.

  2. It is surprising, yeah. Except for the new building- which, given the Thieves' Den under the castle, might've been there before and I just missed it -nothing changes; even the weapons shop has the same gear at the same prices. Ah, for an economy that stable...
